Product Description

Monel 400 Soft Wire Coil is a solid-solution nickel-copper alloy that can only be hardened by cold working. It delivers high strength and toughness across a wide temperature range while maintaining excellent ductility, even at subzero temperatures.
This soft wire coil is supplied in the annealed condition for maximum formability and ease of use in fabrication processes such as winding, weaving, or forming. It exhibits very low corrosion rates in flowing seawater, resists stress-corrosion cracking, and performs exceptionally well in reducing acids like hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acid. With good weldability and thermal conductivity, Monel 400 soft wire is widely trusted in marine engineering, chemical processing, and oil & gas industries where reliability under harsh conditions is critical.

Excellent Corrosion Resistance: Superior performance in seawater, brine, acidic, and alkaline environments, including de-aerated hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids.
High Ductility & Formability: Soft annealed condition provides outstanding malleability for coiling, bending, and complex forming without cracking.
Wide Temperature Stability: Maintains strength and toughness from subzero temperatures up to approximately 1000°F (538°C).
Good Mechanical Properties: High tensile strength combined with excellent toughness; hardened only by cold working.
Thermal & Electrical Conductivity: Reliable heat transfer and moderate electrical conductivity for various engineering needs.
Weldability: Easily welded using common techniques with minimal risk of cracking.
Marine-Grade Durability: Extremely low corrosion rate in rapidly flowing seawater and resistance to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking.

FAQ
A: Monel 400 is a nickel-copper alloy containing approximately 63-70% nickel and 28-34% copper, with small amounts of iron, manganese, carbon, and silicon. It is a solid-solution alloy offering a unique balance of strength and corrosion resistance.
A: The soft annealed condition maximizes ductility and formability, making the wire easier to coil, bend, wind, or fabricate into complex shapes without risk of cracking, while still providing excellent corrosion resistance.
A: Yes. Monel 400 exhibits outstanding resistance to seawater, brine, and high-velocity saltwater, with very low corrosion rates. It is a preferred material for marine applications and resists pitting and crevice corrosion better than many stainless steels in such environments.
A: It performs well up to approximately 1000°F (538°C) while retaining good mechanical properties. It also maintains toughness at subzero temperatures without becoming brittle.
A: Yes, it offers good weldability using common techniques such as TIG, MIG, and shielded metal arc welding. Proper procedures ensure strong, corrosion-resistant welds.
