Product Description
Our pure nickel electrode mesh is manufactured from commercially pure Nickel 200 (UNS N02200) and low-carbon Nickel 201 (UNS N02201). Both grades offer ≥99.0% nickel content and form a stable passive oxide layer in hot KOH or NaOH solutions, making them ideal for alkaline electrolyzer electrodes, porous transport layers, and current collectors.
Available in woven and expanded forms, the mesh provides high open area for electrolyte flow and rapid gas bubble release while maintaining low electrical resistance. Typical operating conditions (70–160 °C, high-concentration alkaline media) are well within the safe service limits of both Ni200 and Ni201, ensuring long-term durability and consistent hydrogen production efficiency.
Exceptional Alkaline Corrosion Resistance – Stable performance in 20–40 wt% KOH/NaOH at elevated temperatures thanks to self-passivating oxide film.
Superior Electrical Conductivity – Minimizes ohmic losses and overpotential in high-current-density alkaline electrolyzers.
High Material Purity – Ni200 and low-carbon Ni201 grades reduce impurity-related efficiency losses and intergranular attack.
Optimized Mesh Structure – Wide range of mesh counts (commonly 20–100 mesh), wire diameters, and open-area percentages for balanced surface area, gas release, and mechanical strength.
Excellent Mechanical Properties – Good ductility and bend resistance for easy fabrication into electrode plates or custom shapes.
Customizable Formats – Plain weave, twill weave, or expanded nickel mesh; optional surface treatments or catalyst coatings (e.g., Raney nickel compatible).
Temperature Versatility – Ni200 suitable for standard systems; Ni201 preferred for higher-temperature or long-term pressurized alkaline electrolyzers.

FAQ
Ni200 has higher carbon content and is cost-effective for standard alkaline electrolyzers operating below ~100–160 °C. Ni201 is the low-carbon grade, offering better resistance to graphitization and intergranular corrosion, making it preferable for higher-temperature or long-duration service.
Pure nickel forms a stable passive layer in concentrated KOH/NaOH, provides high electrical conductivity, and offers good catalytic activity for both HER and OER at a much lower cost than platinum-group metals.
Typical recommendations include 40–60 mesh (or 20–100 mesh range) with adequate open area (>50–60%) to balance surface area, electrolyte flow, and efficient hydrogen/oxygen bubble detachment. Exact specifications can be customized.
Yes. The mesh serves as an excellent substrate for catalyst coatings such as Raney nickel, NiFe-LDH, or other active layers to further reduce overpotential and improve electrolysis efficiency.
