FAQ
Ni95Al5 (also called NiAl 95/5 or Nickel Aluminum 95/5) is an exothermic nickel-aluminum alloy thermal spray wire containing approximately 95% nickel and 5% aluminum. It is specifically engineered to produce self-bonding coatings with exceptional high-temperature oxidation resistance and strong adhesive strength.
Both usages are common.
Most frequently used as a premium bond coat / adhesion-promoting underlayer for ceramic top coats (TBC), hard-facing layers, or other thermal barrier coatings.
Also widely applied as a standalone high-temperature wear-resistant coating, oxidation-resistant layer, or dimensional restoration material on carbon steel, low-alloy steel, and stainless substrates.
Under standard twin-wire arc spray parameters and proper surface preparation (grit blast Ra 3–6 μm), bond strength usually reaches 8,000–12,000 psi (55–83 MPa), sometimes higher depending on substrate material and spray process.
Continuous service temperature is generally 750–850°C in oxidizing atmospheres. Short-term peaks can reach ~900–980°C depending on exact environment and coating thickness.
