Product Description

Description of Inconel 625 Foil/Strip

inconel strip

10004 (1)

DLX Alloy's Inconel 625 (UNS N06625) foil and strip are nickel-chromium-molybdenum superalloys designed specifically for demanding hydrogen energy applications. Thanks to its high nickel content (>58%) and additions of niobium, Inconel 625 delivers exceptional resistance to hydrogen embrittlement even under ultra-high hydrogen pressures (up to 700-1000 bar) and across wide temperature ranges (-196°C to 980°C).

Our ultra-thin Inconel 625 foil (0.01mm–0.2mm) is perfect as a barrier layer or liner in composite high-pressure hydrogen storage tanks, preventing hydrogen permeation and embrittlement of carbon fiber structures. The wider Inconel 625 strip (thickness 0.1mm–3.0mm) is widely used for welded tank components, accumulators, and hydrogen pipeline reinforcements.

All products are supplied in annealed condition for optimal formability and hydrogen compatibility, meeting ASTM B443, AMS 5599, and ASME SB-443 standards.

DLX

Feature of Inconel 625 Foil/Strip

  • Superior Hydrogen Embrittlement Resistance

High nickel matrix significantly reduces hydrogen absorption and diffusion, far outperforming 316L stainless steel in high-pressure gaseous hydrogen environments.

  • Excellent Hydrogen Permeation Barrier

Ultra-low hydrogen permeability protects composite overwrapping and extends tank service life.

  • Outstanding Corrosion Resistance

Resists pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking in humid or impure hydrogen conditions.

  • High Strength & Fatigue Resistance

Maintains mechanical properties after repeated hydrogen charge-discharge cycles.

  • Wide Temperature Performance

From cryogenic liquid hydrogen storage to high-temperature hydrogen transport.

  • Excellent Weldability & Formability

Easy to roll-form, deep-draw, or weld into complex tank liner shapes.

FAQ

FAQs of Inconel 625 Foil/Strip

1. Is Inconel 625 resistant to hydrogen embrittlement in high-pressure hydrogen tanks?

Yes. Thanks to its high nickel content and stable austenitic structure, Inconel 625 exhibits excellent resistance to hydrogen embrittlement and very low hydrogen permeation rates, making it one of the preferred materials for 700-bar hydrogen tanks and refueling systems.

2. What is the thinnest Inconel 625 foil you can supply for hydrogen tank liners?

We routinely supply 0.01mm–0.05mm ultra-thin foil, ideal as impermeable liners in composite hydrogen tanks.

3. Can Inconel 625 be used together with Inconel 718 in hydrogen systems?

Absolutely. Inconel 625 is typically used for corrosion/hydrogen barrier layers (foil/strip), while Inconel 718 is used for high-strength structural parts. Many hydrogen tank designs combine both alloys.
