Product Description

DLX Alloy's Inconel 718 (UNS N07718, W.Nr. 2.4668, Nickel Alloy 718) plate is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-chromium superalloy renowned for its exceptional mechanical strength, toughness, and resistance to hydrogen-induced degradation. Specifically engineered for demanding hydrogen energy applications, this high-performance material excels in high-pressure gaseous hydrogen storage (up to 700-1000 bar) and transportation systems where hydrogen embrittlement resistance is critical.
Inconel 718 maintains superior properties across extreme temperatures (-253°C to 700°C), making it the preferred choice for manufacturing composite overwind pressure vessels (Type IV hydrogen tanks), liners, valves, and fittings in fuel cell vehicles, hydrogen refueling stations, and stationary hydrogen storage solutions. Compared to Inconel 625, Inconel 718 offers higher yield strength and better fatigue resistance, ensuring long-term reliability in cyclic high-pressure hydrogen environments.

Excellent performance in high-pressure gaseous hydrogen environments, minimizing cracking and degradation common in lesser alloys.
Precipitation hardening provides yield strength up to 1200 MPa (aged condition), ideal for lightweight yet robust high-pressure hydrogen storage tanks.
Retains mechanical properties from cryogenic temperatures to 700°C, suitable for both liquid and compressed gaseous hydrogen systems.
Resists pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking in moist H2S or chloride-contaminated hydrogen settings.
Can be easily formed, welded (even in aged condition), and machined for complex hydrogen vessel components.
Gamma double-prime (γ″) strengthening ensures durability under repeated pressurization/depressurization cycles in hydrogen transport.
