Product Description
Our Cu-Ni composite strip is a high-performance copper-nickel clad material specifically developed as battery tab material for lithium-ion batteries. With one side pure copper and one side pure nickel, it combines the exceptional electrical and thermal conductivity of copper with the superior weldability and corrosion resistance of nickel.
This high conductivity Cu-Ni composite strip significantly reduces internal resistance and heat generation compared with pure nickel tabs, while the nickel surface enables reliable spot welding, ultrasonic welding, and laser welding. It is the preferred choice for EV battery modules, energy storage systems, power tools, and high-current consumer electronics requiring efficient and durable battery interconnects.

FAQ
A: Pure nickel has relatively low conductivity (~22% IACS). Our Cu-Ni composite strip offers significantly higher conductivity (typically 60–80% IACS depending on copper ratio), resulting in lower resistance, less heat generation, and improved battery efficiency and safety.
A: It is primarily optimized for negative electrode tabs and high-current interconnects due to the combination of copper conductivity and nickel weldability. Suitability for positive tabs depends on the specific battery chemistry and design—please consult us for confirmation.
A: Yes. We offer flexible copper-to-nickel thickness ratios, total thickness, width, and temper so you can balance maximum conductivity with welding performance according to your battery tab requirements.
A: The pure nickel surface provides excellent spot, ultrasonic, and laser weldability similar to pure nickel, while the copper layer carries the high current, giving you the best of both materials.
