Product Description
K403 is an equiaxed Ni-Cr-based casting superalloy alloyed with cobalt, tungsten, molybdenum, aluminum and titanium. It is designed for turbine components exposed to hot combustion gas, thermal cycling and sustained mechanical loading.
K403 has established vacuum investment-casting capability and can be used to produce complex guide vane airfoils, platforms and integrated stationary turbine structures. Finished-component performance depends on master alloy cleanliness, remelting conditions, shell design, pouring temperature, solidification, porosity, grain structure and heat treatment.

Superior Thermal Fatigue Resistance: Specifically alloyed to resist crack initiation during the rapid thermal cycling typical of gas turbine start-stop operations.
High Creep-Rupture Strength: Maintains geometric stability under continuous high-temperature stress, crucial for maintaining guide vane throat areas.
Vacuum-Grade Purity (VIM): Ultra-low inclusion levels prevent surface defects in thin-walled castings, improving final component yield rates.
Excellent Hot Gas Corrosion Resistance: High Chromium and Aluminum content forms a stable passive layer against oxidation at 1000°C.
Optimized Castability: Superior melt fluidity allows for the successful casting of intricate internal cooling channels in modern guide vane designs.
Applications
K403 is suitable for conventionally cast guide vanes operating under qualified stationary-component temperature and stress conditions.
The alloy can be used for individual vanes or multi-vane segments with airfoil, platform and mounting features produced as an integrated investment casting.
Industrial gas turbine manufacturers may select K403 for stationary hot-gas-path components requiring strength, oxidation resistance and complex casting capability.
K403 may be used for aero-engine guide vane castings when the master heat, foundry process, inspection and traceability satisfy the applicable qualification requirements.
DLX Advantage
CHANGZHOU DLX ALLOY CO, LTD was established in 2002 and has got ISO9001 International Quality Management System Certificate and SGS Certificate. DLX Alloy supplies nickel-based casting master alloys for precision foundries and high-temperature component manufacturers.
Our K403 supply program can be configured around the customer’s target chemistry, furnace charge size, casting process, documentation and delivery requirements. Heat-level identification supports traceability from alloy production through packing and shipment.
FAQ
K403 is an equiaxed, precipitation-strengthened nickel-based casting superalloy. It contains chromium, cobalt, tungsten, molybdenum, aluminum and titanium and is used for high-temperature precision castings such as turbine blades and guide vanes.
K403 contains Cobalt and higher Tungsten, which offers superior thermal fatigue resistance and higher stress-rupture strength at the upper limit (950°C-1000°C) compared to K418.
We typically supply Φ60mm to Φ90mm bars, but custom diameters are available to fit specific vacuum furnace crucible sizes.
Yes, we include the 900°C/196MPa stress-rupture test results in the Mill Test Certificate (MTC) for every heat.
Absolutely. K403 is one of the most widely used materials for stationary turbine nozzles and guide vanes due to its dimensional stability under heat.
