Nickel-based casting superalloy

Product Description
K418 is a cobalt-free, equiaxed-grain nickel-based casting superalloy developed for high-temperature strength, creep resistance, oxidation resistance and thermal-fatigue performance.
Its nickel-chromium matrix is strengthened primarily by a high volume fraction of γ′ precipitates formed by aluminum, titanium and niobium. Molybdenum contributes solid-solution strengthening, while controlled additions of carbon, boron and zirconium support grain-boundary and carbide behavior.
When remelted and cast through a qualified process, K418 master alloy is suitable for complex precision castings that must retain strength and structural stability under elevated-temperature cyclic loading.
K418 and IN-713C are widely treated as corresponding alloy grades. However, composition limits and certification requirements may vary between GB, AMS, OEM and customer specifications. The governing purchase specification should therefore be confirmed before production.

VIM Ultra-Purity: Produced via Vacuum Induction Melting to ensure gas levels stay under O ≤ 15ppm and N ≤ 10ppm for cleaner castings.
High-Temperature Stability: Maintains superior mechanical integrity and tensile strength (≥900MPa) in extreme thermal environments.
Superior Hot Corrosion Resistance: Optimized Chromium and Aluminum content provides a protective oxide scale against high-temperature oxidation.
Optimized Phase Balance: Strict control of Nb, Al, and Ti elements for stable γ' phase precipitation, ensuring long-term creep resistance.
Applications
K418 is widely associated with investment-cast turbocharger rotors and turbine wheels requiring strength, oxidation resistance and thermal-fatigue durability.
The alloy is used for conventionally cast rotating and stationary gas turbine components, including blades, guide vanes and other uncooled hot-section parts.
Its casting characteristics make K418 suitable for complex integral turbine components where blades and wheel geometry are produced as one casting.
Subject to the applicable aerospace qualification, process approval and traceability requirements, K418 or IN-713C chemistry may be used for aircraft-engine and auxiliary-power-unit castings.
The alloy may be selected for industrial gas turbine and power-generation castings exposed to elevated temperature, oxidation and cyclic thermal loading.

FAQ
K418 is a γ′ precipitation-strengthened nickel-based casting superalloy. It is commonly cross-referenced to IN-713C and is used for precision-cast components requiring high-temperature strength, creep resistance, oxidation resistance and thermal-fatigue performance.
K418 and IN-713C are commonly treated as corresponding grades, but they should not be assumed to be automatically interchangeable for every order. Chemical limits, impurity requirements, testing and certification can differ between GB, AMS, OEM and customer specifications. The purchase specification and certified heat analysis determine compliance.
A K418 master alloy bar is feedstock for remelting and casting. Foundries charge the material into a qualified melting process and cast it into turbine wheels, blades, vanes or other high-temperature components.
No. In this product context, “bar” describes the shape of the cast master alloy feedstock. It is not conventional wrought bar stock and should not be ordered for forging or direct structural use.
K418 castings are commonly selected for service below approximately 900°C. The allowable temperature for a specific component depends on stress, exposure time, environment, casting quality, heat treatment, coating and engineering safety factors.
